What is a negative film? A black and white negative film is a piece of photographic film showing an image with black and white tones reversed. The concept to be considered is that the black area on the negative film is actually white and the white area covered is actually black on the negative film. The concept of the black and white negative film is equivalently applied to the colored negative films as well. Our Scanning Procedure
Our step-by-step 35mm negative scanning process ensures quality proven services meeting the industry scanning standards:

  • Cleaning: For the 35mm negative scanning service, 35mm negatives are individually tested and cleaned through the usage of compressed air or a loose cloth.
  • Sorting: Once the cleaning is done, we sort the 35mm negatives as per the film type, i.e. black and white, color or monochrome as necessary.
  • Verification: Every 35mm negative is tested and verified so as to check the emulsion side and accordingly commence with the 35mm negative scanning scanning process.
  • Inserting: At this stage, we insert the 35mm negative film into the 35mm scanner adapter where the preview of the first frame is taken care of.
  • Setting: We then run a test scan of 35mm film negative strip based on your instructions penned in the Scanning Order Detail Form. After the completion of the test scanning and the required adjustments made, we start the final scanning process of your items.
  • Editing: This is a stage in 35mm negative scanning process where our basic editing session begins wherein each photograph is watched on our color calibrated monitor to make the necessary adjustments of color correction, dust spotting and cropping, if necessary.
  • Post-scanning services: On clients' request, after the completion of the 35mm scanning process, we work on the post-scanning services of Photo Retouching, Photo Keywording, Photo Makeover and Raster to Vector for optimal photo results.
  • File Format: After the 35mm negative scanning and the editing processes come to an end, we then save the files in a particular file format suchlike the TIFF’s, JPG’s or any other file format as per the client’s requirement.
  • Delivery & Shipping: Once all the 35 negatives are scanned, they are burned on the CD’s or the DVD’s as per your request. Also the final product will be shipped back to you at your Shipping address.

Tips:

  • 35mm Negatives may be sent in protective sleeves, envelopes or archived storage sheets
  • Film strips containing data should be upto 6 frames in length. Strips longer than this length will be cut in order to be scanned
  • We strongly suggest that the film should be reinforced with cardboard to avoid any bending or scratches during shipment
